As a Location General Manager in Training (LGM), you will begin a leadership development program designed to prepare you for full responsibility over one or more CarMax store locations. Role Responsibilities
- Lead total store operations, focusing on associate development, profitability, and customer satisfaction, with emphasis on sales processes and budget management.
- Manage financial performance through effective P&L oversight and cost-control initiatives.
- Drive operational excellence by reducing waste and introducing process improvements that enhance customer and associate experiences.
- Recruit, train, and promote associates, ensuring a strong pipeline of talent to support store success and company growth.
- Foster engagement and development through regular feedback, performance reviews, and coaching conversations.
- Provide vision and motivation to senior management teams, setting clear strategies and goals for store success.
- Responsible for the Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) program for your department and/or location, including but not limited to self-inspections, hazardous waste disposal, workplace safety, and PPE.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with customers and associates across departments.
- Proficiency in data interpretation and record management for accurate reporting and decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to make independent, critical business decisions and identify improvement opportunities.
- 5+ years of management experience, preferably in retail, with proven leadership capabilities.
- Completion of CarMax-provided training and intermediate PC skills.
- Flexibility to work a rotating schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional travel for meetings or training.
