Position Overview

As a Group Delivery Manager at CarMax, you will serve as a senior delivery leader driving excellence across multiple teams and strategic initiatives. In this role, you’ll act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert in delivery methodologies, tools, and practices—ensuring consistent, high-quality execution and alignment with organizational goals. You will lead the evolution of delivery standards, foster community engagement, and provide hands-on support for complex projects, enabling CarMax to maintain its reputation for innovation and customer-first experiences.

Team Overview

The Technology Delivery Management team partners with technology and business stakeholders to ensure the reliable, predictable delivery of technology initiatives across the enterprise. The team blends agile and program delivery practices to manage dependencies, risks, and execution across teams, projects, and portfolios. Through strong collaboration, governance, and accountability, the team enables technology teams to stay focused on delivering business value efficiently and at scale.

Role Responsibilities

  • Champion delivery excellence across teams and projects, aligning execution with strategic objectives.
  • Serve as the expert on delivery methodologies, tools, and templates, ensuring best-in-class practices.
  • Develop and maintain toolkits and frameworks to support scalable, consistent delivery.
  • Lead Delivery Guilds and communities of practice to foster knowledge sharing and innovation.
  • Mentor and coach Delivery Managers, driving maturity and consistency across teams.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on portfolio performance, risks, and dependencies.
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners to ensure alignment and delivery success.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven success leading large-scale delivery efforts and building team maturity.
  • Deep expertise in Agile and project management methodologies with strong adoption skills.
  • Ability to manage interdependencies across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Strong understanding of governance, procurement, and third-party processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, or related field.
  • 7+ years of project management experience, including 3+ years in senior delivery leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, SAFe, CSM, PMI-ACP) are a plus.

Work Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the Richmond Midtown or Plano Tech hub and have a Hybrid work arrangement.

  • Associates based in Richmond work on-site 4 days per week.
  • Associates based in Plano work onsite 2 days per week.

Work Authorization: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Sponsorship will not be considered for this specific role.
